Subject: August 2, 2026 – Highway 82 Motorcycle Fatality

Identity of the Deceased: Joshua Norton, 53-Year-Old Male, Resident of Grand Junction, CO. 

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 12:54 p.m., the Garfield County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to Highway 82, milepost 12.5, near Carbondale, Colorado, for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a fatality. Upon arrival, Garfield County Coroner’s Office investigators pronounced Joshua Norton, a 53-year-old male and resident of Grand Junction, Colorado, deceased. The Coroner’s Office investigation preliminarily indicates the cause of death to be blunt force chest injuries sustained in the crash and the manner of death as accident. Subject: Glenwood Springs Death Investigation
Date: May 5, 2026
Identity of the Deceased: Shawn Krause 

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at approximately 10:04 a.m., the Garfield County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the area of West 6th Street near Hotel Glenwood Springs for a death investigation. Upon arrival, Coroner’s Office investigators pronounced Shawn Krause, a 59-year-old male from Keystone, Colorado, deceased at the scene. The investigation preliminarily indicates the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the manner of death is being investigated as suicide. Mr. Krause was visiting the Glenwood Springs area at the time of his death. The Garfield County Coroner’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Krause. Date: Thursday, January 15, 2026

Subject: Westbound Interstate 70, milepost 113, Glenwood Springs pedestrian fatality

Identity of the deceased: Jennifer Parker, 47-year-old female, resident of Glenwood Springs, CO

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at approximately 7:19 p.m., the Garfield County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to westbound Interstate 70 at milepost 113 for a report of a female who had been struck and killed by a vehicle. Upon arrival, Coroner’s Office investigators pronounced the woman deceased and noted significant blunt force trauma. Additionally, the woman’s dog was located near her and was also deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026, with the Coroner’s Office contract forensic pathologist. The cause of death is being investigated as blunt force injuries, and the manner of death remains under investigation. The Colorado State Patrol is the lead law enforcement agency handling the investigation. According to the Colorado State Patrol press release, the crash investigation remains open.
